As part of its new strategic plan, South San Francisco Unified School District (SSFUSD) organized a community learning exchange at Baden High School on May 22, 2024, where students, families, employees, and members of the community gathered to discuss what "purposeful family and community partnerships" can look like and how to bring SSFUSD's portrait of a graduate to life.
"The decision to hold the community learning exchange at Baden High School was to highlight the kind of personalized learning that happens at the school," said SSFUSD Superintendent Dr. Shawnterra Moore.
Organizations including the California School of Martial Arts, Cam Edu, Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA), El Concilio of San Mateo County, the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center, Izzi Early Education, Magic Tooth Bus, Peninsula Family Service, Rise South City, the San Mateo County Human Services Agency, San Mateo County Office of Community Affairs, San Mateo County Parks Foundation, the South San Francisco Education Foundation, and the SSF Parks and Recreation Department were also on hand to provide information about their services.
"Each of the organizations here today has partnered or has agreed to partner with us in one form or another," said Dr. Moore. "As we move forward with our strategic plan, it will be important to bring our community along, so they can understand the things we are doing to try to transform our district and improve learning outcomes for all our students."
